On April 10, the Afghan Embassy’s Political Officer, Ms. Hadeia Amiry joined panelists from Haiti Embassy and The League of Women Voters to talk about Women’s Education Around the World.
In the panel named “Girls Rising”, Ms. Amiry focused on Women’s Education in Afghanistan, and how educating women can help the country achieve its full potential. She highlighted the progress Afghanistan has made over the past 14 years particularly in women’s access to education. “During the Taliban Regime, there were no girls at school, while today, girls make up more than 4 million of the 9 million students studying in Afghanistan.”
She further added that women’s participation was growing both in government and private sectors. She said that the government of Afghanistan and in particular President Ghani was strongly committed in advancing women’s situation in Afghanistan.
